According to Vonny, the condition of shortness of breath has been categorized as an emergency and requires immediate medical attention at the hospital.

Doctor Vonny said, in addition to shortness of breath, signs and symptoms of pneumonia also include cough, fever. If the fever is high it can cause the patient to have chills, rapid breathing or even difficulty breathing and often the patient reports chest pain.

“We need to distinguish between rapid breathing and difficult breathing or shortness of breath. For every degree increase in body temperature will make breathing faster. But that does not mean he is short of breath,” said Vonny.

The first treatment for fever can be by compressing and giving fever-reducing drugs. But it is not recommended to immediately give antibiotics. Meanwhile, when the child has a cough, giving cough medicine sold in pharmacies or stalls can be done.

“For coughs, we can give cough medicine, many of which we can still give ourselves because they are free,” said Vonny.
