Soon in a New York City terminal, you might be able to take a seat, but not for long.
That would happen soon at Grand Central Madison, as the MTA board plans to decide whether to implement a time limit on bench seating at the new transit center, which is sometimes overcrowded.
The board will meet on Wednesday to vote on a possible 90-minute limit on seating in the terminal’s pews.
If it sounds like a strange thing to make a rule, it’s not new: MTA officials said the 90-minute restriction is already in place throughout the rest of Grand Central.
Opponents say it unfairly targets the homeless.
Lying on benches and sitting on platforms would also be prohibited.
