The Minister of Public Health, Daniel Rivera, vaccinated this Saturday against COVID-19 to a teacher of the initial level in the regional 08 of the Ministry of Education, in Santiago, as part of the beginning of the phase 1D of the National Vaccination Plan against the coronavirus that, as of now, includes educators, the military and the police, as well as people between 68 and 69 years of age.

“… as of today those who are 68 and 69 years old are being vaccinated, they can also come to the open centers in all the provinces and municipalities of the country”, the Health Minister told reporters who covered the activity.
According to the plan, in the ID phase, adults over 60 years of age will be vaccinated and includes the military population (FFAA), including the first line of the Army, Police, Navy and also teachers.
The minister assured that the plan is going well, since between 71,000 and 72,000 people are vaccinated per day, which has allowed to inoculate more than 375 thousand people to date, among front-line personnel who care for patients with COVID-19, doctors, health workers in general, those over 70 years of age and teachers.
He assured that hospitalizations and intensive care for the virus have dropped and mortality will soon also be reduced, because risk groups are being vaccinated.
This Saturday, 12 deaths from coronavirus were reported, five of which occurred in the last 24 hours, for a cumulative of 3,162 deaths nationwide, since the start of the pandemic. 3,407 PCR tests were processed to detect COVID-19, of which 573 were positive, which places the daily positivity rate at 16.82%. 2,919 follow-up samples were also taken from infected patients. The accumulated cases total 242,660, of which 43,014 remain active, while 196,484 correspond to recovered persons.
The Health Cabinet authorities have guaranteed the vaccinated population so far that they have the second dose that must be applied for the process against COVID-19 to be effective.
New batch of 2 million vaccines
The Minister of Public Health revealed that a batch of two million vaccines will arrive in the country between March 15 and 22, which, in addition to the $ 8 million dollars that were purchased from Pfizer and AstraZeneca, pending receipt, will allow the vaccination plan is extended to the other groups and phases.
The official clarified that the thousand doctors in the COVID-19 area whose contract ended, they were reinstated when their contract was renewed and that it was a misunderstanding which meant that they had separated from the Ministry.
Rivera, clarified that health personnel who prioritize people who do not meet the age, health condition or profession who are being vaccinated at this stage of the plan will not be disengaged, but they will be reprimanded and asked the population to be patient and wait for Let it be his turn, because everyone will get their dose at the right time.
In Phase II of the vaccination plan, the Dominican population with ages between 50 and 59 years suffering from morbidities will be immunized and in Phase IIB, the rest of this population.
