Mainz (dpa) The Rhineland-Palatinate state government has spoken out against the construction of a Rhine tunnel near Ludwigshafen. The local communities are aiming for a tunnel reading, said Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) on Wednesday in a question session by the state parliament. However, the construction of a tunnel is unrealistic because it is not economical. The state government, together with the state company Mobilitt (LBM), will do everything possible to help the city of Ludwigshafen so that the tense traffic situation there can be brought under control as quickly as possible and the economic strength of the region will not be harmed.
