On Monday, the action actor Steven Seagal received a friendship award from the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

The awarding of the Order of Friendship was announced on the Russian government’s website.
After frequent visits to Serbia and Russia over several years, the actor was granted both Serbian and Russian citizenship in 2016. In 2018, Seagal was appointed as Russia’s special envoy to the United States, where he was supposed to work on humanitarian issues.
Seagal was born in the United States and is considered to be a good friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
His interest in the martial arts MMA is said to have been the reason why he and Putin, who also has a pronounced interest in martial arts, met.
In 2017, Seagal received a prohibition for five years against entering Ukraine, due to national security.
