“There is nothing to complain about” were the words of throwing coach Helmut Penert after his protégé won the German U16 championships. Anyone who knows the meticulous technical trainer at SC Bayer 05 Uerdingen a little knows that this is a huge compliment from his mouth. It describes the confident appearance of 15-year-old Maximilian Neukirchen, who dominated the shot put at the DM in Hanover. With 18.74 meters in the fourth attempt, the Nierster set a new personal best and thus also a new German annual best. With his good rotary joint technique, he was able to pull off good joints in rows. Despite the enormous increase of the runner-up William Wolzenburg (SV Georgsheil) to 17.65 meters, Neukirchen never left any doubts about the victory. His superiority is made clear that five of his six thrusts would have been enough for the title.

The second starter of the SC Bayer Kenzie Ofiri could also look forward to a new personal best over 100 meters. In the run-up it already ran 11.72 seconds under unfavorable conditions. Disqualifications due to false starts by two competitors had upset him a little. Because exactly this mishap had happened to the Uerdinger twice this season. The result was a lot of respect on the third attempt and consequently a totally “sleepy” start. With a lot of luck Ofiri saved himself in the B final for places 9 – 16. There the athlete from coach Tobias Rüttgers showed all his strength and sprinted to second place in 11.53 seconds. He was even faster than the seventh and eighth place finishers in the A finals.

There were also good performances for hammer thrower Nele Frisch, who competed out of competition at the regional championships in Aachen and scored 60.82 meters, and for Hannah Odendahl (both U18), who she rarely ran in the 3rd competition of the track series in Bergisch Gladbach Won 1500 meters in 4: 51.25 minutes.
