David Goffin suffered a third loss on Saturday evening in the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, a tournament in Nice in France set up by Patrick Mouratoglou, the coach of Serena Williams.
The Liège, number 10 in the world, lost 3-1 against the Austrian Dominic Thiem (ATP 3). The set positions were 15-10, 16-10, 13-10 and 14-16.

Dominic Thiem is almost the only top tennis player who has been on the disastrous Adria Tour of Novak Djokovic in recent weeks and is still active in the international tennis circuit. The Austrian number three in the world tested negative on Covid-19 three more times before leaving and, unlike his colleagues, did not consider it necessary to quarantine himself for two weeks. After a round robin the six best classified tennis players continue. The top two qualify directly for the semi-finals, numbers three to six play off for a place in the last four.
