Sony finally gave us our first look at the long awaited God of Warthe sequel during his PlayStation Showcase on September 9 – and we now know that it is called Ragnarok.
God of War Ragnarok was the culmination of the packed event, with a three-minute trailer showing a glorious return for the god Kratos and his son Atreus.
Tensions between Kratos and Atreus appear to be high. The duo is reunited with Mimir, the source of wisdom, as well as the two blacksmiths, Sindri and Brok.
God of War Ragnarok’s game looks as brutal, spectacular and devastatingly violent as we expect, with various biomes to explore.

Sony hinted at the God of War sequel last year with a short announcement trailer that simply showed a symbol from Nordic mythology, followed by the words “Ragnarok is coming” and “2021”. In addition, the teaser included a short voice-over by Kratos who said, “You have to prepare.”
Incidentally, the teaser did not tell us much about us, except that Ragnarök, a series of events and disasters that – according to Nordic mythology – ultimately led to the end of the world, would probably play a role in the sequel. The teaser trailer also led many to believe that the God of War sequel would be called “God of War: Ragnarok”, which we now know is true.

After the teaser trailer, there has been a lot of radio silence from Sony Santa Monica Studio about the sequel to God of War. Earlier this year, however, the studio confirmed rumors that the sequel had delayed from 2021 to 2022.
The revelation during the PlayStation Showcase was the first time we have been able to see the long-awaited sequel in action and now we finally know what to expect when God of War Ragnarok lands on PS4 and PS5 under 2022.
