The parish church resident suffered serious head injuries in an accident at work and has needed constant care and help ever since. It was January 23rd, the first working day of the new year for Jürgen Eisschiel, when the life of the Pfarrkirchner family changed dramatically. The 44-year-old fell three meters on a construction site. He suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and spent the following seven months in hospital.
Today, the farmer and father of a two-year-old son is dependent on a wheelchair and can only walk a few steps in the house. His memory is impaired and he can no longer remember little Jan. But the language center is particularly affected. “Jürgen understands a lot, but he can hardly speak – “He can’t think of the words,” says his partner Sarah Mitgutsch, describing the situation. “He will never be the way he was again. There was too much damage to the brain.”
Support comes from the mobile helpers of the Arcus social network, otherwise Sarah is constantly at her partner’s side. That’s why she had to give up her job in retail.
Loans have to be paid back
Which, above all, makes the financial situation very difficult. In addition, a new stable for raising bulls was built in 2017 and agricultural equipment was purchased. Last year the small family created new living space for themselves. The bulls, which are now cared for by family and friends, will gradually be sold and farming will be abandoned. But the loans remain and the monthly repayments are hardly manageable.
