A glazier lost two large glass plates in the bend from the A4 to the A12 near The Hague, reports the AD. The connecting road was closed due to the fragments, but a number of motorists ignored the red crosses above the road. A number of them suffered a flat tire as a result.

The glass plates weighed about a hundred kilos each. Due to the large amount of fragments on the road, Rijkswaterstaat will need until approximately 10 p.m. to clear everything away.

At least seven motorists suffered flat tires due to the shards of glass. The police also fined 30 people for driving while the red cross was on and fined them 350 euros.

Traffic can detour via the exit at Leidschendam.
