GitHub already allows us to upload videos

Five months after introducing the video upload feature in beta, GitHub now allows all developers to include .mp4 or .mov files directly to display discussions, issues, comments, and more.

The platform, from Microsoft, wants to help visually demonstrate the possible problems that are found with the project stored in github, so that those responsible can follow the steps and replicate the possible error identified.

Of course, it also opens the door to showcase new features included with a code change.

Video is king, much more than a few years ago. This trend, which we see on Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook and other social networks, has to find its place on other platforms. People like watching a movie better than reading a book, watching an instructional video than reading a tutorial, or watching the news better than reading the newspaper. On GitHub that also applies in the world of programming, where sometimes text instructions are not enough to show what the user wants to say.

The video that we can upload could be used together with a voice track, with a narrator explaining the actions on the screen.

GitHub also fully supports uploading videos from your mobile app.

This new feature allows you to avoid the alternative of recording and uploading a video to a third-party platform and then sharing a link, something that used to be done frequently. GitHub does not yet support displaying videos from shared links, so including native video was a must.
