In the US, they announced the launch in late April of human trials of the antiviral drug Remdesivir. The drug was originally developed by an American company. Gilead sciences in to combat Ebola, but experts believe that it can be effective in the treatment of coronavirus pneumonia. Previously, Remdesivir was tested on mice and on larger animals.
400 volunteers from around the world will take part in the tests at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. They will be divided into two groups at random. One part will receive symptomatic treatment with 200 mg of “Remdesivir”, the second – protocol treatment for coronavirus and simulated solution.
It is known that in 2014 the drug showed efficacy in the treatment of the Middle East respiratory syndrome, which is also caused by the coronavirus, but of a different type.
