An 8-year-old girl from the Netherlands drowned last weekend at a campsite on the French west coast. She got her hair stuck in a drain at the bottom of the pool, reports the French medium West France.

Visitors to the campsite in the municipality of Les Sables-d’Olonne saw the girl lying on the bottom, according to French media. After she was taken out of the water, the lifeguard immediately started CPR on her. The fire brigade then took over from him, but the help was no longer of any use.

Visitors to the campsite were in shock. The pool was closed after the girl’s death.
