Gilbert beats Van der Poel in Sporza vote AGR, NOS offers a solution

As has been a tradition for several weeks now, sends Sporza in the weekend an old edition of the cycling classic that would be held in that weekend. This week it is the turn of the Amstel Gold Race.

As we are used to, the readers could vote again which edition they would like to see. There were seven options this time. Three of these were Belgian victories. Twice Philippe Gilbert, once Johan Museeuw. In addition, Enrico Gasparotto was present with his win from 2016. The other three options came from our own Netherlands: Jan Raas, Erik Dekker and of course Mathieu van der Poel.

Where Van der Poel still headed the first day of the Sporza vote, he faced a backlog on Tuesday. Instead of his victory in 2019, most viewers preferred to see the 2017 edition again. In it, Gilbert won, after falling heavily before. The score was 43% on Tuesday, against 38%. On Wednesday April 15, Gilbert also became the final winner. Van der Poel’s 2019 edition ended in second place with 35 percent of the votes. First place went to the 2017 edition with 47 percent of the vote.

NOS offers a solution and broadcasts Amstel Gold Race

The NOS will broadcast the Amstel Gold Race from 2019 on Sunday 19 April from 3 p.m. The victory of Mathieu van der Poel, but especially the bizarre final of the Dutchman, still comes in the living room of the Dutch cycling fans.
