“Merdeka…,” he said Gibran Rakabuming Raka loudly ended his speech after receiving a letter of recommendation from the PDI-P DPP to become a candidate for mayor of Solo, Central Java.

The appearance of President Joko Widodo’s eldest son yesterday looked different. If you usually answer reporters’ questions in a low voice, a word or two, they are now more voiced with a more friendly body language. Maybe this is the result of blusukan to meet the citizens of the city of Solo or maybe Gibran has studied political communication with his seniors in the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle.

The decision to vote Gibran becoming a candidate for mayor of Solo, it has been predicted since Gibran officially became a cadre and registered through the PDI Perjuangan DPP. Directly or not, President Joko Widodo also played a role in smoothing Gibran. Even though the PDI-P DPO Solo initially recommended Solo Mayor Deputy Achmad Purnomo, the signal was to give tickets to Gibran already seen at the inauguration of the Solo Manahan stadium, last February.

President Jokowi who flew to Solo to inaugurate the stadium, was welcomed directly by the Mayor who is also the Chairman of the DPC PDI Perjuangan Solo FX Hadi Rudyatmo (Rudy). Adi Soemarmo Airport is in Boyolali, so the one who usually welcomes the president is the Boyolali Regent, but at that time Rudy — called FX Hadi Rudyatmo – also welcomed and even one car with the president when he left the airport. In the stadium which was attended by thousands of Pasoepati (supporters of Persis Solo), Jokowi with Rudy and Gibran compact wearing a red shirt, while Achmad Purnomo appeared with a batik shirt.

The decision to vote Gibran, of course received criticism. Especially if it’s not a political dynasty. Not only Gibran, son-in-law Jokowi, Bobby Nasution, is now also following a political process in a number of parties in order to become candidates for mayor of Medan, North Sumatra. Same as Gibran, Bobby also has the opportunity to get recommendations. The matter of accusations of building a political dynasty has been denied Jokowi. Word Jokowi, he did not interfere in the political process Gibran and Bobby and now it all depends on the people who will vote directly.

In addition to the matter of political dynasties, Indonesian Voter Committee Coordinator Jerry Sumampouw questioned his abilities Gibran. Gibran which so far has been considered a food entrepreneur, does not yet have the capacity to manage a region. In the Kompas Petang program dialogue, Jerry said taking care of the city of Solo was not the same as managing the company.
