Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur target Nicolo Barella has the world at his feet at Inter Milan, Premier League legend Gianfranco Zola told Sky Italia.
Towards the end of the 2014/15 campaign, the former Chelsea star presented a precocious teenager with his Serie A debut in the red and blue Cagliari jersey.
Now, six years later, Zola can proudly recall his role in developing arguably the best central midfielder in Serie A.

Barella, the driving force behind an Inter team sailing toward their first Scudetto win since José Mourinho’s heyday, is operating in top condition right now, buzzing, buzzing and intriguing in the heart of the engine room of Antonio Conte.
According to Inter Live, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is willing to pay £ 56 million to bring Barella to England, while Spurs have also made their interest known (Calciomercato).
But, with the Nerazzurri set to reward the 24-year-old with a vastly improved new contract, it seems unlikely that the Italian international Inter will follow in Zola’s footsteps with a switch to a Premier League behemoth for the time being.
“Nicolo is one of the most valuable assets we have in Italy and he seems ready to do even better. I can even see similarities with (Italian legend) Marco Tardelli because they play similarly, ”says Zola.

“They both have great football intelligence, they have an eye for goals and they know how to play passes. But they are also physically strong and also overcome defensive work.
“Maybe Nicolo has better technique (than Tardelli).
“It can and should improve because I think it is very important to continue expanding your horizons. With this in mind, Barella will be even more important for (Italy and Inter) ”.
Zola is impressed by the way his former Cagliari youngster has added control to his game, receiving fewer yellow cards and retaining the aggressive, never-dying spirit that has made him an integral part of Conte’s game plan.
