Giammattei explains how, according to him, the return to face-to-face classes for primary school in 2022 will be due to covid-19 – Prensa Libre

President Alejandro Giammattei visited San Marcos on Thursday, November 25, where he participated in a vaccination day against covid-19 and spoke about the return to school in 2022 for primary school.

“February 15 we go to face-to-face classes if God through the people behave well at parties and we do not have an upturn, we should have and be prepared to open classes in February, on the 15th,” he said.

He announced that they are going to vaccinate teachers who have already been vaccinated with a third dose and that when they are six months old they will be given the booster.

He also said that the vaccination of front-line personnel began with a third dose to cover teachers, Army, Police and public and private health services.

He mentioned that vaccination is special for children from 5 to 11 years old and added that classes will begin with vaccinated teachers and they will begin with safety protocols.

He said that in the case of primary school, the system will probably be hybrid, that is, the number of students in the classrooms will be reduced so that all attend.

Always on the subject of primary school, they will try to get them to go to school for three days and the rest of the days at home, “but that’s while the vaccine is out.”

He affirmed that there are reserves to buy two million doses as soon as the vaccine comes out and they hope that the request will be attended by Pfizer, this on the subject of vaccinating children.

He stated that we are all learning from this disease and in fact a nasal vaccine against covid-19 is being tested in Israel. He indicated that a pill against the virus is still under study.

He mentioned that from 12 years onwards the adult dose can be used and according to him, there is no problem.

He announced that in December he will promote vaccination in the interior of the country, especially in places where there has been resistance to the dose.

He said that according to a study, deaths in people vaccinated with two doses are centered in patients who are 67 years old and who had some other disease such as kidney, heart and liver problems.

Herd immunity

He indicated that we will have herd immunity when more than 90% of the population is vaccinated, for now it will reach 10 million vaccinated and of these about six million with a complete scheme.

“We have to run,” added Giammattei, who later said that 12 to 18 years is a large population and that they are prepared to serve everyone, whether they go to school or not.

He emphasized that with elementary school, the hybrid method will begin, with safety protocols in all schools while the vaccine is coming.

He indicated that if the vaccine comes and the children are already in classes, it will be easier to vaccinate them. He recalled that for now there is no approved vaccine for children.

Giammattei added that on the issue of beds for covid-19 the occupancy is 8% in the country and according to him, this is the result of vaccination, “but we still need a lot.”

Again he affirmed that we have plenty of vaccines, there are plenty of vaccinators and what is needed are arms to apply the doses and prevent people from catching Covid-19.

Announce measurements

The president was asked if there will be measures for the covid-19 for December and he replied: “I leave you with doubt, but there will be.”

In relation to what the president said, the Presidency was consulted, indicating that these measures are still under analysis and depend on the behavior of the contagion curve.
