GGD: People in urban regions are less and less compliant with corona rules NOW

The sharp increase in the number of corona infections in the urban regions can be explained by house parties and other social gatherings where the 1.5 meter distance is not guaranteed. GGD-GHOR reports this on the basis of source and contact research.

According to GGD-GHOR, it appears that people in the regions of the four cities, but also in the regions of West Brabant and Hollands Midden, are increasingly less than 1.5 meters away. At parties at home or elsewhere, but also at weddings and funerals.

“The many source and contact investigations that the GGDs are currently conducting give an ever better picture of the spread of the virus and therefore also of the situations in society that the GGDs are concerned about”, writes GGD-GHOR on his website. “There is a striking number of similarities between the places where the number of infections is now increasing considerably, is the experience of the GGDs.”

Especially people up to forty years old ignore rules

In addition to social gatherings, more and more people refuse to go into isolation or quarantine. People also refuse to name their contacts or withhold information during a source and contact investigation.

People up to forty years in particular no longer abide by the rules, according to the GGD. “If people do not follow government rules of conduct, this hinders GGDs in their work and it is impossible to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.”
