In the Utrecht region, 67 people have so far contracted the monkeypox virus. “The number of infections is decreasing, but we don’t really know why. We continue to monitor it,” says RIVM spokesperson Marah Michel. “We are still doing research on sources and contacts, but if there is a reason to do it, it will be downsized. It is not yet. It is still a bit of a prestige, but we are also seeing it diminish around the world.”
