According to the UI lung specialist, Dr. Gatut Priyonugroho, Sp.P, the Delta variant is still from the same virus, namely SARS-CoV-2. It’s just that it has some differences from the previous variant.

So if the corona virus has a cone in the head, there is a slight change,” he explained in a seminar held by the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI). ), Wednesday (7/7/2021).

But in the Delta variant, it can transmit more. For example, 1 patient can infect 8 people.
Meanwhile, the risk of infected patients being hospitalized is up to 2 times. The number of viruses in the Delta variant is more in the previous variant.
Besides that, it’s different on the virus Covid-19 Usually, infected patients can have antibodies or immunity in the body for three to nine months.
On the other hand, for this variant, the antibody produced is not too much. Dr. Gatut also gave a comparison of antibodies produced after infection. Between the Delta variant and the previous variant is 654: 3372. Or you could say only one-fifth.
