Getting started with Oppo Find X2 Neo

Oppo hit hard last week by presenting two new 5G smartphones at affordable prices. The Find X2 Neo is one of them and he just got home. So let’s unpack it together and see what it looks like.

Oppo surprised everyone at the start of the year by launching Find X2 Pro, whose test awaits you at this address.

Find X2 Neo has a lot of class

And you know if you hang out around the corner a lot, but this phone won me over. I would even go so far as to speak of a real crush.

The Find X2 Pro is indeed what you could call a game changer and it is very difficult to fault. Now, it’s not the most accessible device on the market. With a sale price set at € 1,199, it is even unaffordable and this is precisely what pushed Oppo to launch two other versions next week.

The Find X2 Neo will obviously be entitled to a full test, but we will already open the ball with this grip.

Packaging & Accessories

Oppo did it right and its three Find X2s all come in a box with the same look. Each time with a brilliant texture and the name of the models highlighted.

No specific technical information apart from a badge reminding us of the amount of RAM and storage space on board the aircraft. And in this regard, the Find X2 Neo is rather well supplied since it has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory.

When you open the box, you come across another box that contains the quick documentation and the tool that provides access to the card door.

The phone is below, wrapped in protective film. Film in which some of its technical characteristics appear. Oppo has thus placed the focus on the 90Hz screen, but also on the presence of a 5G modem and its super stabilizer dedicated to videos.

Once the Find X2 Neo is removed from its housing, there will be a cardboard block protecting the accessories.

The charge / sync cable is of course present, as is the case for a charger block. Block capable of delivering a power of 30W. As a bonus, there is also a hands-free kit in USB Type-C format.

No protective shell, however, and this is not surprising given the pricing positioning of the terminal … and what it offers behind.

Design & Ergonomics

Unpacking is done and now is the time to look at the phone.

During the presentation of its new phones, Oppo insisted a lot on the finesse of their chassis. Rightly so. The Find X2 Neo is no more than 7.7mm thick, making it one of the thinnest phones on the market.

But it is not only thin, it is also very light and it is really what strikes you the most when you take the phone in hand for the first time.

However, its weight is not its only asset. The Find X2 Neo also raises the bar quite high in terms of design and finishes.

The terminal housing is made up of two glass plates. They are glued together using a metal frame. The construction is solid and the finishes impress at first glance.

At the rear, Oppo opted for a glossy glass plate with mirror finish. Note that on my model, the plate was dyed in a gradient of black and dark gray, for a very successful look.

The screen is curved and punched. The front camera is therefore directly integrated into the panel and more precisely in its upper left corner.

The upper and lower borders seem a little more pronounced than on the Find X2 Pro, but that does not make the Find X2 Neo less harmonious however.

The ergonomics are identical to that of Find X2 Pro. The two volume buttons are on the left and the power button is on the right.

The buttons are low enough on the edges to be accessible and there is a small colored button at the power button. It was actually dyed green.

Find X2 Neo skips the headphone jack and the only connector is actually the USB Type-C port on the bottom edge.

First Impressions

The Find X2 Neo is clearly not a discount model and just take it out of the box and play around with it to realize it.

The finishes of the device are indeed close to those of the Find X2 Pro and we feel that the brand has taken the greatest care in its design. Behind, we also have a rather convincing technical sheet, and which we will come back to in detail in the test.
