Gets excited for the dress – but one comment they all trumped

Tonight, four artists will compete for the very last final place in the Melodi Grand Prix 2022. One of these is Kim Wigaard (33), who has received a stir on social media for his MGP outfit.

«Stop fooling around. Men are men »

In the comments section, there are several who can be provoked by the fact that Wigaard wears a dress, and believe this should be reserved for women.

Some of the comments are as follows:

“One thing women should be allowed to have for themselves, and that is the dress. Tragic! Very happy he smoked out »

«A Christmas greeting to Kim Wigaard. Those who are men do not wear make-up. Stop fussing. Men are men. “

“Had it not been for the dress”

Good evening Norway has received several of the negative comments that have been received.

Despite the scope and content of these, Wigaard says that he does not take this personally.

– These comments are proof that we must continue to fight the battle to honor diversity and defy the standardized gender role boxes, he tells Good evening Norway.

Received notification of previous Eurovision winner

Although he has received some negative comments, Wigaard received a message from a former Eurovision winner, which made all the hateful comments fade.

– Conchita has sent a message and commented on my dress. She said it was “stunning” and wished me luck tonight. It was sick big. I’m in seventh heaven. I actually did not expect that, says Wigaard.

Conchita Wurst won Eurovision in 2014 with the song “Rise Like a Phoenix”, and with her long dark hair, beard and dress, the artist took Europe by storm. When referring to herself as an artist, Conchita uses the pronoun “she”.

– I think it’s completely insane. I never thought she would comment. So the winner of Eurovision comments on my dress in MGP-Norway. I jumped on the roof when I saw that she had sent a message, Wigaard says.

– There are several ways to be a man and a woman

The 33-year-old believes that Conchita is a great role model for many, especially for the LGBTQ + community.

– We need more people who show that the gender role boxes have not been set. That there is no way to be a man, or a way to be a woman. There are many different ways, and everyone has their own way of expressing themselves, says Wigaard.

– And that is an expression she has helped to start. I think it is completely raw, and we need more people to show it, he continues.

Wigaard says that he wants to be a role model himself, and show that men can wear dresses and that women can wear suits.

– It is only up to you how you want to express yourself, and there is nothing that is not allowed. But one thing is for sure: We need to see more of it on screen, so that the generation that is growing up now can feel confident in themselves, no matter how they are or how they want to express themselves, he says.

This artist believes the MGP expert goes further

Tonight, Wigaard is fighting for the very last final place in MGP against Mari Bølla with the song «Your Loss», Maria Mohn with the song «Fly» and TrollfesT with the song «Dance Like a Pink Flamingo».

MGP expert Anders M. Tangen tells who he thinks will advance to the Norwegian final.

– I actually think Mari Bølla goes on. She has an incredibly safe presence on stage, and the most modern song tonight. And I think many people miss a bit of “uptempo” in the final. Then the choice is between Trollfest and Mari, Tangen tells Good evening Norway.

– Trollfest’s pink flamingos can be a bit in excess for most people. Then Mari is left. But, it is still open. Kim and Maria stand strong with the blood fans in any case, he continues.
