Gerrard just wants to win at Anfield, not nostalgia

Birmingham

Steven Gerrard will bring Aston Villa away to Liverpool next month. What is it like to come to Anfield, but as an opponent, Stevie?

Gerrard is now the new manager of Villa replacing Dean Smith who was sacked following poor results at the start of the season. The Villans have just lost five successive Premier League defeats which put them in 16th position.

This is certainly not the start that Villa wanted after a massive investment in the transfer market. Losing Jack Grealish apparently cannot be replaced.

Therefore Gerrard is expected to resurrect Villa, like what he did with Rangers FC. After Gerrard became Villa manager, one that the public was waiting for was his return to Anfield.

Incidentally the duel against Liverpool came earlier, namely December 11 when Villa played an away match. Liverpool fans are already heating up this match when Gerrard is confirmed to be the new manager of Villa.

It’s no secret, Liverpool haven’t faced Gerrard as an opponent since he left in 2015 and it will be a moment to look forward to. It is predictable how the emotional side will play there.

However, Gerrard doesn’t want to mess around with that because his focus right now is on Aston Villa, not Liverpool or any other club.

“Listen, I don’t think anyone, neither me nor anyone else can control the rumbling over there,” said Steven Gerrard to VillaTV.

“For me it’s not important, the important thing is to come to Anfield and win. That’s what we want in every game, that’s how it is. I want to win every game we play, that’s my focus and priority. Every day, my life is for Aston Villa. ,” he continued.

“I can assure you of one thing the fans, the players and the staff here, when I commit to something, I will fight for it.”
