The federal police are reporting alarming numbers from German train stations. Crime there is increasing rapidly – and almost across the board. FOCUS online shows the hot spots in the Federal Republic.

The Federal Police’s “2022 Violent Crimes on Railways Management Report” gives cause for concern. Accordingly, crimes at Germany’s train stations are increasing in almost all categories compared to the previous year and 2019.

The report states: “With the exception of crimes against life, there has been a significant increase in crimes in all areas, both compared to the previous year and compared to 2019 (with the exception of breaches of the peace). At over 60 percent, bodily harm was the largest group of crimes.” Our map of Germany shows the hotspot train stations in the Federal Republic.

According to “ Bild “ and North Rhine-Westphalia (4,501 crimes), most violent crimes (1,494) occurred in the Ruhr area. This is followed by Berlin (3,527 violent crimes); almost half of the crimes occurred at Berlin Central Station. The Hanover directorate is in third place with 3,522 violent crimes for the whole of northern Germany, one in two of them at Hamburg Central Station.
