U21, European Championship qualification: Germany vs. Latvia – date, place, kick-off, information

For the German U21 national team, qualification for the 2023 European Championships continues this Friday, March 25th. On Matchday 7, the team of U21 national coach Antonio Di Salvo welcomes Latvia. The game starts at 6:15 p.m. in the Tivolo in Aachen.

Before the European Championship qualifiers against Latvia and Israel (March 29), Di Salvo is plagued by massive personnel problems, also because of Corona. Five nominated players are definitely out, behind six others there are question marks. Armel Bella Kotchap, Patrick Osterhage (both VfL Bochum) and goalkeeper Luca Philipp (TSG Hoffenheim) tested positive for Corona and had to abandon the DFB course. Malick Thiaw (Schalke 04) and Reda Khadra (Blackburn Rovers) are both out through injury.

Di Salvo nominated Faride Alidou (Hamburger SV), Marton Dardai (Hertha BSC), Shinta Appelkamp (Fortuna Düsseldorf) and Vincent Müller (PSV Eindhoven).

The first meeting with Latvia in the European Championship qualifier was won by defending champions Germany 3-1. If Germany wants to secure a ticket to the EM 2023 early as a group winner, only a win against the penultimate table counts today.
