Germany is concerned about the composition of the new Afghan government

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that the composition of the new Afghan government does not give cause for optimism. According to him, Germany will continue to negotiate with the Taliban to enable a large number of people to leave Afghanistan.

“The formation of a transitional government without the involvement of other groups and yesterday’s violence against demonstrators and journalists in Kabul are not signals of optimism,” Mass said.

Mass also warned that Afghanistan faces a triple humanitarian crisis.

“Afghanistan is facing a triple crisis. MMany parts of the country are already experiencing food shortages due to drought, and international aid has stopped. And if the new government is unable to conduct business in the state, there is a threat of economic collapse following a political one – with even more serious humanitarian consequences.
