Since April 14th, the obligation to wear mouth-nose protection applies in all public transport. Wiener Linien has now taken a step towards being able to execute violations itself. Specifically, the provision was included in the conditions of carriage. If a passenger does not adhere to it, he or she can be denied a ride in the future, said Managing Director Alexandra Reinagl.
A Wiener Linien spokesman confirmed the measure. If someone is traveling without appropriate protection, then this is “an exclusion reason for the trip”.
Reinagl also argued in the “press” interview: “Then we can also exclude non-cooperative guests from the trip.” In such a case, you would currently have to wait for the police to come. At the same time, she added that the experience with passengers wearing mouth-and-nose protection has so far been good: “Passengers adhere to it with very few exceptions.”
