German prosecutor says Madeleine McCann is dead – World

A German prosecutor said it appeared that Madeleine McCann was dead, but admitted that there was no “hard evidence” to frame the suspect Christian B., Sky News reported today.

“All the indications we have, which I cannot tell you, point to Madeleine being dead. We have things that we cannot communicate that speak for the theory that Madeleine is dead, even though I have to admit that we don’t have the body”, he told the British television station.

However, the same official said that there is insufficient evidence to obtain a warrant for the arrest and trial of Christian B. for the murder of the missing child in Portugal.

“We don’t have the concrete evidence, we don’t have the crucial evidence for Madeleine McCann’s body,” he said.

Christian B. is being held in Germany for sexual abuse of minors, among other crimes and, according to British and German police, is suspected of involvement in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann in the Algarve in 2007.

Madeleine McCann disappeared a few days before turning 4, on May 3, 2007, from the room where she slept with her two younger brothers, in an apartment in a tourist village, in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve.

The police in the United Kingdom and Germany last week issued a public appeal to ask for information about the suspect, who lived in Portugal between 1995 and 2007 and which telephone records they post in the vicinity of Praia da Luz on the night of his disappearance.

Investigators hope to obtain more information about the suspect that could lead to his prosecution.
