German Gamers Increasingly Invest More Money in Computer and Video Games: Bitkom Survey

According to a survey by the digital association Bitkom, German gamers are investing more money in computer and video games. As Bitkom announced at the start of the Gamescom trade fair in Cologne, gamers spend an average of €26 a month on games, compared to €23 a year ago. According to the survey, 53 percent of those surveyed play at least occasionally on computers, consoles, smartphones or other devices. The younger the respondents are, the higher their willingness to spend. In the age group from 16 to 30 years, the monthly amount is 30 euros.

The telephone survey, conducted by Bitkom Research in May and June 2023, included 1159 people aged 16 and over and was representative. One of the questions asked was: “Do you at least play video or computer games from time to time – regardless of whether with a PC, laptop, game console, smartphone, mobile phone, tablet, smartwatch, virtual reality glasses or smart TV?”
