German consumers sue Daimler in diesel diesel scandal – Worldwide

German consumer representatives said on Wednesday they had filed a lawsuit against the automotive company Daimler in connection with the so-called diesel scandal scandal.

According to the German Consumer Protection Federation VZBV, an action before the Stuttgart Regional Court will help Mercedes-Benz car owners to obtain compensation.

“Despite car recalls, Daimler still denies deliberately manipulating car emissions data,” explains Klaus Miller, head of VZBV.

This lawsuit concerns Mercedes-Benz models GLC and GLK equipped with an OM 651 engine. The VZBV estimates that up to 50,000 cars could be affected.

In September 2015, the German automotive group Volkswagen reportedly caused a global scandal, when the company admitted that up to 11 million of its cars in the world are equipped with certain types of diesel engines, which are equipped with falsified emission measurement software.

Drivers filed a complaint against Volkswagen in 2018, but the company later agreed to pay more than € 750 million in compensation to more than 235,000 car owners.
