German Chancellor Predicts Putin May End War against Ukraine due to Realization of Inevitable Defeat

The politician stated this during a speech at a meeting of European Social Democrats in Bucharest on Saturday, reports Reuters.

He noted that Germany will continue to make its efforts to support Ukraine in the war against Russian aggressors and called on other countries to do the same.

“The war in Ukraine will end the moment Putin decides to withdraw his troops. However, he will only make this decision when he realizes that he cannot win the war on the battlefield,” Scholz said.

He stated that Germany had by this time allocated military support to Kyiv in the amount of 28 billion euros.

Scholz also noted that Western support for Ukraine is “the key to restoring peace” in Europe.

“We will support it as long as it is necessary,” the head of the German government emphasized.

In addition, he said that to prevent escalation, including a potential conflict between Russia and NATO, what he called “effective deterrence” is necessary.

“We therefore invest more in our own security and defense together as Europeans, so that no one dares to attack us,” he said.

Let us remember that it was previously reported that Scholz made an important statement on assistance to Ukraine ahead of the EU leaders’ summit.

In addition, we previously informed that Scholz called for support for Ukraine and explained why it is important.
