The Sheffield Hallam University assign to Geri Halliwell an honorary doctorate. The award comes for the years of philanthropic work in the diversity and education the former pop star has dedicated to the cause.
The university in question has awarded several lauree to honor starting in 1993. And former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell was just the latest celebrity to earn one. After becoming famous in the best-selling girl group of all time, the Spice Girls, Geri has spent the last 25 years of her life supporting children’s literacy, access to education and women’s rights.
His other hits also include a ten-year period as an ambassador for a renowned United Nations organization for women. We also remember his role as vice-patron for the charity Breast Cancer Care.
The honorary degree for Geri Halliwell and her emotion
The announcement of the PhD award follows a visit by Halliwell to the University of Yorkshire. She met the professor on the spot Sir Chris HusbandsDeputy Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam, e many students of media arts and communication.
Geri was able to know more thoroughly l’iniziativa South Yorkshire Children’s University, which helps raise aspirations and opportunities for hundreds of children and young people across the region. In particular, the initiative deals with children from disadvantaged backgroundsproviding inclusive extra-curricular enrichment activities.
Geri Halliwell described this PhD as an award, “a great privilege“. He said: “I sincerely believe that education is a superpower, supporting young people with the confidence, perspective and experience to pursue their life goals and dreams.”
Beforeannouncement of the honorary doctoral award, Geri was involved in some of the initiatives run by Sheffield Hallam University. These aim to encourage diversity and inclusiveness within education.
The honorary degree aims to recognize his achievementswhich Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Chris Husbands says “align closely with the university’s mission to transform the lives of its young students.”
Geri Halliwell he will officially receive his honorary degree in November this year, together with the 12,000 graduating students of the various faculties. An event that will certainly mark his path and his career.
