After the victory of the Georgian Dream in the 2012 parliamentary elections, Irakli Garibashvili served as head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. After Bidzina Ivanishvili’s resignation from the post of prime minister, he headed the government in 2013-2015, and again headed the government in February 2021.
Irakli Kobakhidze was the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament. He left office in 2019 after the “night of Gavrilov” – amid mass protests in Tbilisi. In January 2021, he was appointed chairman of the ruling party.
