Nobody wants to Mark Jackson on an NBA bench. The few to advocate in his favor are players who have never evolved under his orders. So here is the former coach of the Golden State Warriors converted by consulting since 2014. Last night, he commented on the game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Lakers. And despite the terrible loss to the Oregon franchise – which conceded 111 points – he wanted to salute the efforts of Carmelo Anthony in defense.
« Those who have criticized his defense in the past were wrong », Begins Jackson, before being immediately taken over by his friend Jeff Van Gundy.
It is not known if Mark Jackson watched basketball between 2003 and 2019 but Melo rarely sprained this side of the floor despite athletic qualities that could have helped him to assert himself as a more than honorable stopper. In short, Jax then recovered to send this subtle spike.
« OK, I think the responsibility is shared then. It’s also the fault of whoever let him get away with defending him. Because he really engages with Portland. »
Yes, it’s true that Carmelo Anthony has made some interesting efforts since wearing the Blazers jersey. But maybe that’s just because he’s a lot more mature today. He no longer has a choice. If he does not defend, he leaves the league. It’s that simple. Obviously, it motivates.
Nevertheless George Karl, a former Denver Nuggets coach at the start of Melo’s career, felt targeted. So he took out the ice pick. The snow cannon itself.
I heard @MarkJackson13 is taking shots at my defensive coaching during tonight’s broadcast.
Remind me, how many all-star teams did you coach, Mark? How many DPOYs? How many Finals appearances? How many of my teams became dynasties right after I left?

Boom. A Hall Of Famer trainer who defends himself does damage. Without ever winning titles, Karl led great teams like the finalist Sonics in 1996. And what a magnificent punchline in reference to the Warriors, who became the strongest in the NBA just after the departure of Mark Jackson. The latter responded by pretending that he was not aiming “Furious George.” “
Wasn’t even thinking of u!
Btw I never lost to u in the playoffs as a Player or as a Coach! God Bless u and urs! https://t.co/MdIPN7Z26H— Mark Jackson (@MarkJackson13) August 21, 2020
Yeah… George Karl coached Carmelo Anthony throughout his time in Denver except for the first two years. Not sure Jackson was targeting the poor Jeff Bzdelik, Melo’s first NBA coach.
