General practitioner worried: Manuela (20) is sitting at home after accident by corona | Inland

She has been rehabilitated, but it is hard to do at home with a mother and father with physical discomfort. Manuela sleeps in the living room. She’s been in bed since Monday. “And I can’t figure it out. Standing does not work. Don’t even sit. ” Her mother barely pulls it. She also has to take care of her husband Martin, who has a double hernia and osteoarthritis, and is a heart patient herself. “I don’t know what to do first or last. This is very stressful. ”

Manuela, from Hengelo, was seriously injured when she was hit by a car on the A73 near Tegelen in Limburg. She herself had run into the highway in desperation, breaking both legs, her spine and two cervical vertebrae. “I had an operation for six hours, my legs are full of plates and screws. Among other things, had a broken shoulder. When I came to, I was very heavy. I especially had a hard time surviving, ”she says to RTV East. But now Manuela has turned his sights back to the future. “I’m fighting for my life.”

GP: she needs help, but nothing is possible

She was treated in a rehabilitation clinic and then discharged. After that it is up to the GP. “I have tried everything, but you get the same answer everywhere. Because of corona, there is no home care, but no physiotherapy, for example, ”says doctor Jeanette Silvius.

According to her GP, Manuela has no perspective at home: “Especially because her parents are completely unable to take care of her, while the first months of the rehabilitation process are just as crucial for a further recovery. Because whether she has already been rehabilitated, the opinions are quite divided. As far as I’m concerned, she is only halfway there. ”

The doctor tries to help the family. “I’ve been there four or five times since Monday. But the annoying thing is that as a doctor you feel like the well of the healthcare sector. I just have to solve it, while in this era of corona there are actually no possibilities. ”
