Hooverphonic had to do without Geike Arnaert for twelve years. Years in which she devoted herself fully to her solo career, although that did not always go smoothly. “It has been quite difficult years”, it sounds in Het Nieuwsblad. “I think I have questioned too much. What may not have been necessary, so that the pleasure in what you do disappears. I also did not think that the road back to Hooverphonic was there. The warmth that comes with my return is in any case fantastic to experience. ” And she adds, “I have my place at Hooverphonic. And in that job I want to be my best.”

Although some will argue that this return was not exactly timely. Thanks to the VTM program ‘Love for Music’, the attention for Geike’s (solo) music has increased a lot. Wasn’t it better to cash in on that renewed attention? “If you think about it very logically, I should have continued with my solo career now, and finished my own new record”, the singer admits. “But I try not to be so calculated with things. When the opportunity arose. wanted to return to Hooverphonic, it felt right. From a creative point of view, but also on a human level. I think I have my place there too. I think it’s fantastic to be able to take on that role again. We have each other no need to exist, and that’s why it is possible. If I were completely dependent on Hooverphonic, it would be more difficult. So I certainly won’t stop making and bringing my own music. Only now all focus will be on Hooverphonic in the short term. . ”
