Garut (ANTARA) – The Health Service (Dinkes) of Garut Regency, West Java is targeting around 43 thousand children to get a new vaccination, namely the rotavirus (RV) vaccine to prevent diarrhea and human papillomavirus (HPV) for cervical cancer prevention.
“Vaccination has been done, those with RV are in posyandu, health centers, clinics, hospitals. As for those with HPV in schools, health centers, clinics or hospitals,” said Head of the Garut District Health Office Leli Yuliani who was contacted by cell phone in Garut, Thursday .
He said the Garut Health Office had made preparations to carry out a new vaccination, which would begin on August 9, 2023. The vaccination, he said, for RV was the target of 18,300 infants aged cave up to four months, then the HPV vaccination was targeted for 5th grade elementary school children. 25,153 children.
He conveyed that the implementation of the vaccination was not centralized, but like the usual vaccination activities carried out at posyandu in the surrounding community, health centers, hospitals, and at schools. “Those who can’t because they are sick or unable to come can come to the puskesmas, clinic or home,” he said.
He invited all levels of society to make this new vaccination program a success so that children have strong immune systems, especially not being susceptible to disease, especially severe diarrhea and cervical cancer among women.

He explained that the RV vaccination prepared by the government aims to maintain a generation of people who are healthy, qualified, and not susceptible to disease. “Make sure that your babies, ladies and gentlemen, get the RV vaccine to prevent severe diarrhea which endangers the baby’s health and also make sure that 5th grade elementary school girls get the HPV vaccine to protect themselves from cervical cancer,” he said.
