‘Gardener’ Rob Verlinden is disappointed that he has been the subject of conversation at Veronica Inside. For years, Verlinden was one of the faces of the RTL4 program Eigen Huis & Tuin and in November he published a biography called Destructive Passion about his turbulent private life.
For example, he said that he was infected with HIV and that he was on the verge of death after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. These disclosures also stayed with Veronica Inside not beyond reproach. “There are things you should not tell about your childhood sins, but Rob had no problem with that,” said Johan Derksen. “He teamed up with Robbie. Rob and Robbie … But that wasn’t Rubber Robbie, because before he knew it, he had HIV!”
Verlinden’s name came up again during a recent broadcast. It did not leave the main character untouched. “I would rather not look at it when they talk about you like that. I understand that you can say something under the guise of a joke. But this is really not possible,” he tells De Telegraaf. “Things like this bother me. I don’t really understand why this should be broadcast again.”
