Ganjar Pranowo Ready for Third Presidential Debate on Defense and Security

Presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo admitted that he was ready to face the third debate for the 2024 presidential election. Even though the third debate had a theme about defense, Ganjar believed he was able to master the debate.

“I am very optimistic,” said Ganjar at Bangsalan Field, Boyolali, Central Java, Saturday (30/12/2023).

The third debate will be held on Sunday (7/1/2023). The themes of the debate are Defense, Security, International Relations and Geopolitics.

Ganjar did not agree that the theme of the third debate was deemed more favorable to presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto who is the Minister of Defense (Menhan). Ganjar then highlighted Prabowo’s policy of purchasing used aircraft as Minister of Defense.

“When it comes to controlling the debate, is the decision appropriate or not? We can no longer talk about our defense, but buying a used plane, no,” he said.

Ganjar said that he had prepared well for the third debate. He also admitted that he received a lot of input regarding defense.

“So there is a lot of input from Commission I, there are problems with defense, defense equipment, there are problems with world organizations that we are involved in, perhaps ASEAN, the UN, we are in the G20, in the G7, these are examples,” he said.

He is optimistic that input from a number of parties will strengthen his performance in the upcoming debate. “There are border problems, there are war problems, how to settle Indonesia, there are refugee problems like today. So they have been prepared, God willing, they are ready,” he added.
