The use of foreign workers is often in the public spotlight. One incident that had become a concern was the arrival of Chinese foreign workers to Bantaeng, South Sulawesi on Saturday (3/7) night.

The arrival of the 20 foreign workers invited criticism in the midst of the Emergency PPKM policy due to the surge in domestic Covid-19 cases.

The Chinese TKA company, namely PT Huadi Nickel Alloy, reasoned that their arrival was to accelerate the construction of a smelter plant which will operate in November 2021.

Head of the Health Handling Division of the Covid-19 Task Force (Satgas) Alexander K Ginting said the 20 foreign workers from China were workers in the essential industrial sector. Other considerations are financial factors, diplomacy, and emergencies.
