Gallon Water Reuse Causes Cancer? YKI General Chair: No Evidence yet

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Recently, a number of parties have spread news to the public that reused gallon water can cause disease cancer.

General Chairman Indonesian Cancer Foundation (YKI) Prof. DR. dr. Aru Wisaksono Sudoyo, SpPD-KHOM, FINASIM, FACP denied the news.

According to him, until now there is no evidence that reused gallons of water cause disease cancer.

“For sure 90-95 percent cancer it’s from the environment or environment. Mostly because of lifestyle exposures such as lack of exercise and eating the wrong foods, smoking, and so on. So there is no research on gallon water that causes cancer, ” he said.

The same affirmation was also conveyed by a member of the Indonesian Cancer Foundation, Dr. Nadia A Mulansari SpPD-KHOM.

He said cancer it is multifactorial, where about 10-15 percent are genetic and the remaining 90-95 percent are sporadic or more to the environment.

What is clear, said doctor Nadia, is the main cause cancer which has been proven from various studies that is cigarettes.

“It causes about 20-30 cases of cancer,” he said.

Other risk factors that can affect the occurrence cancer are obesity or overweight, long hormonal use, early menstruating age, women who do not breastfeed, exposure to paint materials, and chemical fertilizers.

“Essentially, the cause cancer it’s multifactorial. So, many other factors contribute to a cell making it turn into a cell cancer, ” he said.
