(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Seong-heum = On the second day of pre-sale of Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S21, the marketing competition is heating up as KT raised its publicly announced subsidies more than twice as much.

KT announced on the 16th that it has changed the publicly disclosed subsidies for Galaxy S21 to 262,000 to 500,000 won for each plan.

This is an increase of at least twice in one day from the 100,000-240,000 won announced the previous day.

Disclosure subsidies for each plan are KRW 500,000 for Super Plan Premium Choice (KRW 130,000 per month), KRW 450,000 for Super Plan Special Choice (KRW 110,000 per month) and Basic Choice for Super Plan (KRW 90,000 per month), and KRW 340,000 for 5G Simple (69,000 KRW per month). , 5G slim (55,000 won per month) is 262,000 won.

With this increase, KT has set the same level of subsidies as LG U+.

The previous day, LG U+ set the highest subsidy among the three mobile telecommunications companies at 268,000 to 500,000 won per plan.

KT said, “In order to coexist with the difficult distribution network and eliminate customer discrimination due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, we have raised the support fund to a level similar to that of our competitors.”

KT explained that “the notice is not officially announced, so it can be changed during the notice period. It was decided according to the opinion of the Korea Communications Commission that it is possible to increase it once to prevent customer confusion.”

As both KT and LG U+ have set public subsidies of up to 500,000 won, SK Telecom is also considering a plan to raise the subsidy.

SK Telecom announced a public announcement subsidy of 87,000~170,000 won the day before.

The previous day was also the lowest level among the three companies, but the gap widened further according to KT’s impression that day.

Even the maximum subsidy of 170,000 won is nearly 100,000 won less than the minimum subsidy of the other two companies.

An official from SK Telecom said, “Nothing has been decided yet,” but said, “We are looking at the trend of competitors and are considering it.” He added, “It’s only been two days since we started pre-orders, so we’ll have to watch more trends.”

The announced support fund is subject to change and will be confirmed on the 22nd, the start date of opening.
