Galatasaray coach Terim is the first in Turkish football to contend with coronavirus | NOW

Galatasaray trainer Fatih Terim was the first person in the Turkish football world to test positive for the corona virus on Monday. The 66-year-old Turk is in relatively good health.

“I’m in good hands at the hospital. No one has to worry about me,” Terim writes in a short message on Twitter.

Since the summer of 2017, Terim has been the trainer of Galatasaray for the fourth time in his career. He previously was three-time national coach of the Turkish national team.

In Turkey, football was played for a long time compared to other countries. The Süper Lig, the highest league, was only shut down last Thursday, at the urging of the players’ union, which had received a lot of criticism from players.

The corona virus is also prevalent in Turkey. Although the first infection was only detected on March 11, there are already 1,236 registered infections and 30 fatalities.

Many footballers and trainers around the world have also been affected by the corona virus, including Juventus striker Paulo Dybala, Chelsea striker Callum Hudson-Odoi and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

The coronavirus in short
