Gailtal: quiet time for music, singing and theater

After nine months of stagnation, cultural workers and audiences are longing for live performances.

GAILTAL. Our region is rich in passionate musicians, singers, actors and many other cultural workers. They all have one common Christmas wish, namely that their “quiet time”, which has been going on since March, may soon come to an end. The WOCHE Gailtal sounded in the Gailtal music and theater scene.

Too long a break

The mood is at its lowest point, but hope is alive. Music school director Gerald Waldner admits that during the pandemic it was possible to look after music students in distance learning, but “what we all miss very much are public appearances. And the forced break, which has already been too long, could even put music clubs in trouble here and there ”.

Personnel worries as a possible consequence

Singergau chairman Peter Krall also has similar worries: “Due to the mostly slightly higher average age in the choirs, missing performances can even cause voices to break away that at some point no longer come to rehearsals.” Brass band chairman Andreas Zimmermann suffers with his numerous local traditional bands also very much because of the fact that now practically a year is coming to an end without the lived community with rehearsals, performances and an audience. Christian Wiedenig, chairman of the Trachtenkapelle Almrausch, sees this in a similarly negative way, but is pleased that the brass band is constantly taking care of all legislative interpretations and that there should be hope again from around mid-2021.

Audience is simply missing

What the girls from “Gailtola3Xong” particularly miss are the personal contacts, both with the audience and with each other. Corinna Lipautz-Bacher: “We especially suffered with the many bridal couples who often had to postpone their weddings several times. We also miss the many Advent concerts right now. ”For Michael Buchacher alias“ Buzgi ”, the second lockdown was and is more difficult than the first. “I used the time to write new songs, such as the Christmas carol ‘I’ll steal a Christmas tree from you’. But with two school-age children in home schooling you are constantly very distracted.
Music pedagogue Hubert Waldner from St. Daniel is pleased to have officially retired since 2018: “But as a passionate musician and composer, I’m still fully in action. It is a very sad time, which in the long term will cast a big shadow over the entire music scene. “
After 25 years, the Joker theater group in Hermagor is planning to resume their first comedy “Pension Schöller”, at that time directed by the actor Adi Peichl, who has just passed away. Director Gerald Ressi: “We have already postponed the planned performance date from March to the end of November 2021 due to the corona.”
