Indonesia has long been known to the world as the world’s largest producer of agarwood.

However, the weakness of the cultivation function has forced the government to impose restrictions on harvesting quotas.

Launching the dpr.go.id page, the Indonesian Agarwood Association (ASGARIN) revealed that agarwood producing area in accordance with the distribution of the Quota for Harvesting Natural Plants and

Capture of Wild Animals issued by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia cq the Directorate General of Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems (KSDAE) include:

1. Sumatra Island and Kalimantan Island as Aquilaria Malaccensis collection areas.

2. Papua Island, West Papua, part of Maluku Region and Sulawesi Region as Aquilaria Filaria retrieval areas.

3. The islands of NTT, NTB are part of the Maluku Region and the Sulawesi Region as areas for Gyrinops spp.

However, after the decline in gaharu production in 2000, several regions began to cultivate this plant as people in Merangin, Jambi and Batang, Central Java did.

Gaharu is sold in the form of powder, kemedangan, and sapwood with prices reaching billions of rupiah per kilogram for the best quality.

To produce agarwood with the best quality takes a long time, it can even reach thousands of years.

This makes agarwood very difficult to find, moreover the cultivation efforts have not been widely carried out by farmers.

The benefits of gaharu wood that make its economic value so high include:

1. Medicine raw materials
2. Aromatherapy
3. Perfume raw materials
4. Cosmetic raw materials
