In a press release issued on June 24, the National Anti-Semitism Watchdog (BNVCA) reported the violent assault of an 84-year-old Jewish woman at her home in the city of Gagny (Seine-Saint-Denis), on June 22, 2020.
She was the victim of a concrete block throwing through the glass of her living room, while she was watching television. If she was not affected, she was “very scared,” says the BNVCA. A complaint has been made.
According to the association, “this lady was the target of her anti-Semitic attackers who had to identify her thanks to a Mezuzah placed on the front door of the villa”.

The BNVCA indicates that it has observed that, for almost five years, citizens of the Jewish faith have been attacked as close as possible to their home, even in their own home.
In 2014, a Jewish couple had been the victim of savage anti-Semitic aggression and rape during the burglary of their apartment in Créteil in 2014.
Mireille Knoll, a Jewish octogenarian and survivor of the Holocaust, was stabbed at her home in the 11th arrondissement of Paris in 2018. The previous year, in 2017, Sarah Halimi had been the victim of a similar assault, leading to her death, in the same arrondissement.
In an article published in 2017, L’Express argued that in the neighboring towns of Raincy, Villemomble and Gagny, which forms the same community, the Jewish population was increasing, with about
1,300 to 1,600 families. The magazine described the situation of the Jews in these cities as rather serene and prosperous.
In 2003, however, the Jewish high school in Gagny had been target by arson, without causing injuries.
