Gabon Oil Company: dismissed agents demand payment of their rights – AGP

Libreville, December 29, 2023 (AGP) – After their dismissal 3 years ago for economic reasons, employees of Gabon oil campany (GOC) are demanding payment and finalization of the company’s social plan which accompanies the dismissal, as well as the settlement of legal rights, in accordance with the Gabonese Labor Code which relates to economic dismissal.

A few months after the dismissal of GOC agents, the employers decided to pay workers’ rights. After this action, the agents considered that the amounts awarded did not reflect the services provided by each of them. The details of the calculations were not respected.

Left to their own fate, these ex-employees are demanding their rights and want to be paid, taking into account their abuses. Knowing that this economic dismissal took place in violation of articles 73, 74 and 75 of the Gabonese Labor Code governing the procedure for economic and collective dismissal.
They are therefore calling on the highest authorities of the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI), so that their situation can be vindicated.

“Let the CTRI take a look of compassion on us because our assets were stoned by the former team in charge of the country 3 years ago,” expressed Arnold Brieug Mendou M’Obame, former staff delegate of Gabon Oil Logistiques and Services (GLS).

Gabon Oil Company (GOC) is the Gabonese national oil company. Founded in 2011, it has production and marketing activities for petroleum products.
