Future $ 1.5 billion hospital center: the Gatineau Hospital would become “community” | Health | News | The right

The right obtained a copy, through an access to information request, of the final version of the clinical plan submitted to the government by the Outaouais Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSSO). The 315-page document shows how the reorganization of care will be carried out in anticipation of the opening of a new 600-bed hospital.

Announced last fall by the Minister of Health. Christian Dubé, this project provides for a net gain of 240 hospital beds in the region, Mr. Dubé had said he hoped that the hospital could receive its first patients well before 2030.

The clinical plan shows that on the 600 beds of the future hospital complex, there should be:

  • 348 medicine beds
  • 173 surgical beds
  • 67 emergency stretchers
  • 32 TARP beds (labor-delivery-post-partum recovery)
  • 16 neonatal beds (excluded from total beds)
  • 25 pediatric beds
  • 22 child psychiatry and adopsychiatry mental health beds

Specialized services

The new hospital will also bring together a whole range of specialized services, from oncology to pediatrics, including orthopedics, birthing centers, neonatology, cardiology, intensive care, ophthalmology and palliative care, as well. as operating theaters.

The Gatineau Hospital will have a total of 258 beds – 100 for physical health and 148 for mental health for adult clients – according to what is indicated in the CISSSO clinical plan. He will thus take over from the Pierre-Janet Hospital, which would become an addiction rehabilitation center. McGill University’s satellite faculty of medicine will also remain at the Gatineau Hospital.
