Wolf Moon – where does the name come from?
January’s full moon is called the Full Wolf Moon or Wolf Moon. This term was coined by Native Americans. During this time of year, North American tribes listened to the howling of wolves in the evenings, believing that it was caused by animal hunger. Today we know that this is not true. According to almanac.com, howling allows wolves to locate pack members, strengthen social bonds, define their territory and coordinate hunting.
