The ‘world‘s most popular’ firefighter calendar is back with a selection of hot images for the twenty-eighth edition of 2021, honoring the hard work of the men and women who fought in the flames that between 2019 and 2020 they devastated Australia and caused the deaths of one billion animals.
The protagonists are, once again, the trained Australian firefighters, posing with dogs, cats, koalas, kangaroos and even chicks to raise funds for various animal protection agencies. Since 1993 they have raised $ 3.2 million selling calendars and merchandise, from t-shirts to pillow cases, with their disturbing photographs. And this year they have not stopped even in the face of the coronavirus emergency.
For 2021 there are six different ones Australian Firefighters Calendar to choose from and funds will go to Australian wildlife, hit hard by last year’s devastating fires. “No one was indifferent to our precious wildlife trying to escape the fires. The loss of wildlife was beyond our comprehension, ”recalls calendar director David Rogers.
“After fighting the fires and witnessing the suffering of wildlife, my crew and I felt compelled to do more,” explains Cameron Simpson of Fire Rescue New South Wales, a firefighter who has been showcasing the his statuesque physique for the noble cause. “We donated money to take care of the koala Anwen and after seeing firsthand the work done by volunteers at Port Macquarie Koala Hospital, our perspective on protecting our wildlife has changed forever. ‘
Funds raised under the 2020 calendar helped pay for new equipment and supplies for nearly six months at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, where koalas, wombats and kangaroos were treated.
